on the old xbox’s like this one that you have the 4chips next to the x-clamps you can simply take 8-pennys wrap them in electrical tape both ways(wrapped in 2’s) then heat sinc on the chips and place the pennys on the chips seal the console up towel trick it and its fixed

All I did was take off the old thermal paste with nail polish remover and WD-40 and cleaned it off with rubbing alcohol. Then I added Artic Silver 5 to the CPU and GPU, I let it cool for about 10 minutes and I turned it on and it worked. It might not work 4ever but as long as I don’t have to pay microsoft im good.

How long has this xbox been functional after performing this fix? I’ve done other fixes where it only lasts about 2-3 months before dying permanently.

Why cant you tryunclip the fan and overheat it first? before messing with all the other stuff?

@GamerGuy51 by the way the towel trick i did actually worked for about 4 weeks then kept freezing my 360, so i had to do it again to make it work. Microsoft…. i am very disappointed!!!

@GamerGuy51 i myself fix other peoples red lights. i did the penny fix, and it worked. but i got the e74 error message and tried the towel trick like a idiot! and now my 360 keeps on heating up or getting the infamous Three Red Rings of Death. i think Microsoft could of helped millions by taking 8 pennies and did the penny fix. they could of saved a lot but they decided to use cheap heat sinking pads

I am getting three red lights, but I am wondering if it might mean something else. I did everything you said and it still giving three red lights. As soon as I turn mine on, it flashs three red lights. It doesn’t take a few seconds like yours. It has them as soon as power is on. The fans start to spin and stop immediatly. Any other possible reason why I would get three solid red lights?
